Just a quick little note to let
you know Chuck and I visited the new ACBL
headquarters in Horn Lake, MS. The new building has a beautiful
entry and was easy to find. Dave Smith, the Associate Editor, was kind
enough to give
us
a tour of their new building. Note Chuck and Dave standing at the entry.
Dave gave us a tour of their wonderful museum. It is full of
bridge history and is interactive with touch screen technology.
If you
have looked at the August issue of your Bridge Bulletin you will see a picture
of the
museums Trophy room. I took a picture of Chuck in the Trophy room
as he was dreaming about past hands and big wins.
It was an easy fun trip and I wanted to share with all my bridge friends. If you have questions, I would love to share my experience with you.

Amateur bridge players will bid to play with a bridge pro. The dollar amount bid by the amateur will be donated to Backstopper. Your bid and your check to Backstoppers, is tax deductible. The bidding will stop at midnight on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010. The game will take place Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 and regular game fees will apply.
For this event, a Bridge Pro is someone with 2000+ACBL master points. If you have more than 2000 Master Points from ACBL and would like to play as a Bridge Pro, please call or E-mail Chuck . This event will be limited to 50 Pro/Am partnerships. To place your bid, call or E-mail Chuck, or fill out the bidding form on the wall at Bridge Haven and return it to the bidding envelope. Questions, feel free to call.

are delighted that Krzysztof Jarosz has agreed to direct games on Saturday
evenings at 7 pm. Krzysztof and Chuck will
coordinate the directing of every Saturday evening game. You asked for a

A Great Big Thank You to everyone who supported the Charity Games at Bridge Haven in 2009. This includes the Sunday Swiss Teams where Bridge Haven donates the extra dollar. Bridge Haven has a lot of new bridge players. We would like to ask for
your help with two things:
We would like to develop a library so the new (and old) bridge players have some references available for them. If you have some old bridge books available and would like to donate them to Bridge Haven's library, it would be greatly appreciated.
A lot of the new players would like to play with more experienced player. You do not have to be a life master, just willing to help new players learn new conventions and duplicate, protocol. Novice Friendly Game,

Okay, now you maybe asking, "What is a Novice Friendly Game?"
A Novice Friendly Game, is a bridge game where new players can play and compete
with other players and find tolerance for the learning process. They can
also play with stronger partners. There will be no limits on master points
at this game, just a lot of patience and fun. This game was requested by
players who wanted a novice friendly game on the week-end, because they work
during the week.
Traffic Alert. Please be alert to the STOP sign on Utz road. The police sit in the Hazelwood post office and if you do not make a complete stop as you pull out, going S. on Lindbergh Blvd. they will pull you over. It has happen to me and to other bridge players when there thoughts are on the wonderful world of bridge and not the STOP sign.

The charity for this tournament is Back Stoppers. Bridge Haven and Back Stoppers want to thank all the bridge players who came to participate in this event. It is always fun to organize these events when the players have such a wonderful time. A special thanks to Louise Koenigsfeld who made all the home made cookies. It is fun to have such nice snacks, too. Thanks Louise.

No results to post, just a big "thank you" to Michael Lawrence and his wife Karen for the wonderful seminar they did for the Bridge Haven bridge players. We also want to "thank" Louise Koenigsfeld and Nancy Cadwell for the delicious cookies. The bridge player do eat well. We had a wonderful turn out and everyone seemed really pleased with all the new knowledge obtained. Now, are we ready for the Regional?
